This Egyptian stone scarab has a turquoise-coloured surface with mottled cream and brown areas. Incised lines define the beetle’s back, while the underside carries rows of recessed markings within an oval border.
In ancient Egypt, the scarab was closely associated with Khepri, the god of the rising sun. The sun’s return each morning made the beetle an enduring symbol of renewal and new life.
