This Egyptian shabti stone figurine has a pale blue and cream finish, with incised markings running down the front. A rounded headdress, pronounced ceremonial beard and hands held across the torso define the figure. The back is plain, showing the mottled surface and scattered reddish patches.

Shabtis were funerary figures in ancient Egypt, intended to perform tasks for the deceased in the afterlife. This piece draws on that traditional form.

Made in Egypt. Height: 11 cm. Weight: 88 g.
