This Egyptian stone scarab has a turquoise-coloured surface with brown accents outlining the beetle’s head and divided wing case. The oval underside bears incised markings, adding detail to the reverse.
In ancient Egypt, the scarab was closely associated with Khepri, the god of the rising sun. The sun’s return each morning made the beetle an enduring symbol of renewal and new life.
