Dark chestnut-coloured bands frame the neck and shoulders of this alabaster vase, above a body traced with finer horizontal lines. Its broad flared rim and softly tapered form give the layered stone a strong, balanced outline.

At 20 cm tall and 15 cm across, it makes a distinctive tabletop or shelf accent. Unlit and illuminated photographs show the contrast between the earthy stone and the warmer honey-coloured layers revealed by light.

Alabaster’s natural veining and gentle translucency give each piece its own character. This vase is hand carved on the West Bank of Luxor, Egypt.
