Sobek Basalt Statue 

Sobek was an ancient Egyptian god usually depicted as either a crocodile animal lying on a shrine or as a man with the head of a crocodile.  He was associated with pharaonic power, fertility and military prowess but served additionally as a protective deity having the power to avert evil influences or bad luck.  He protected his worshipers against the dangers presented by the Nile.
