Serket, also known as Selqet or Serqet, is the Egyptian scorpion goddess who was generally viewed as a protective deity. She was believed to have power over venomous snakes and scorpions, and could protect a person from bites and stings. She also protected Ra as he traveled through the underworld each night, watching for dangerous twists in the path and restraining the serpent Apep.
One of the most famous images of Serket is the golden figure shown protecting Tutankhamun, along with three other goddesses.
