Ramses II, also known as Ramesses the Great, was one of the most powerful and influential pharaohs of ancient Egypt.
Ramses II's reign was marked by economic prosperity and cultural achievements. He is known for his extensive building projects, including the Abu Simbel temples and the Ramesseum. Ramses II led several military campaigns to restore Egypt's empire, most notably against the Hittites at the Battle of Kadesh in 1274 BC. Though the battle was inconclusive, Ramses II claimed it as a great victory.
His long reign and numerous monuments and inscriptions have made Ramses II one of the most well-known pharaohs of ancient Egypt. He is often regarded as the greatest and most celebrated pharaoh of the New Kingdom period.
