This radical move earned him the title “heretic king.” With his stunning queen Nefertiti by his side, he went even further by abandoning the ancient capital of Thebes to build a magnificent new city, Akhetaten, dedicated to his monotheistic vision.
But his religious revolution was destined to crumble - after his death, his successors swiftly erased his legacy, destroying his monuments and striking his name from history. Yet his brief, turbulent reign stands as one of the most fascinating and revolutionary periods in all of ancient Egyptian history!
