Thutmose III was the sixth pharaoh of the 18th Dynasty.  Officially, he ruled Egypt for almost 54 years but during the first 22 years of his reign, he was co-regent with his stepmother and aunt, Hatshepsut, who was named pharaoh.

When Thutmose came of age, he was given command of the armed forces by Hatshepsut.  He proved himself an exceptional military strategist and charismatic leader.  In his time as pharaoh, he led 17 successful campaigns in 20 years.  He never lost a single engagement, expanded and maintained his empire and was worshiped by his people for centuries after his death.  He elevated Egypt’s status as a powerful and prosperous nation, employed the people in monumental building projects, and epitomized the ideal of the valiant Egyptian warrior-king.
