Amun-Ra was an important deity in the Egyptian pantheon, combining the characteristics of the gods Amun and Ra. Amun was originally a local fertility god of Thebes, associated with air and the hidden or unseen aspects of existence. Ra was the ancient sun god. Over time, the two deities merged.
Through his role as the all-powerful creator god, Amun-Ra became the most widely worshipped deity in the Egyptian pantheon during the New Kingdom period. His cult and influence extended beyond Egypt's borders into Nubia and Libya.
