Amun, also known as Amon, is an ancient Egyptian deity associated with the sun and air. He rose to prominence at Thebes during the 16th to 11th centuries BCE and became one of the most important and powerful gods in ancient Egypt. His name means "the hidden one," "invisible," "mysterious of form," and he was considered Lord of All, encompassing every aspect of creation. As his popularity grew, he was often merged with the sun god Ra to become Amun-Ra.
