Bastet, one of the most depicted figured in Ancient Egypt, often referred to as the Goddess of Joy & Protection.
Bastet (or Bast) is said to be the daughter of Ra. Originally associated with the Sun, Bastet later because closely connected to the Moon. She was the protector of the domestic cats in Egypt, who were highly esteemed for their ability to curtail the spread of disease and help crop control by keeping rats away from fields & dwellings.
She is often depicted in a full cat form, and sometimes with a cat head on the body of a woman.
